I was diagnosed with leukemia just days before my 18th birthday. What followed was two and a half years of treatment, and when it was finally over, I expected life to go back to normal. It didn’t. I felt lost, and I needed a reason for everything I had been through.

That reason became Lighthouse For Hope.

I was lucky. I had people around me who showed up every single day. But in the hospital I met so many families who didn’t have that. I watched parents miss work, fall behind on bills, and carry the weight of their child’s diagnosis mostly on their own. Cancer and blood disorders take a toll on the whole family, physically, emotionally, and financially, and so much of that cost never shows up on an insurance statement.

Lighthouse exists to fill those gaps. We help families cover everyday costs like groceries, rent, and utilities. We connect them with people who truly understand what they’re going through. And we create moments that have nothing to do with treatment, from our Illuminate Retreat for young adults to holiday gifts for the whole family.

Our mantra has always been simple: be a light. A diagnosis can make everything feel dark. We want every family to know they don’t have to find their way through it alone.
